Test your agent
Talk to your agent in the browser, or type to it, before any phone number is connected, and read what happened.
What you will achieve
You will hold a spoken conversation with your agent from the browser, hear its voice, and see the call appear in your history.
Prerequisites
- An agent you can edit (see Create your first agent).
- A computer or phone with a microphone, and a browser that is allowed to use it.
Step-by-step setup
- Open Voice agents and click your agent.
- Click Talk at the top right. A panel titled Talk to your agent slides in and the call starts straight away. It shows Calling…, then Listening.
- If the browser asks to use your microphone, choose Allow.
- Speak. When the agent answers, the panel shows Speaking. You can interrupt: the agent stops and listens.
- Watch the Transcript fill in as you talk.
- Choose End call when you are done.
To test by typing instead, open the small arrow next to Talk and choose Chat (Type instead of talking). Type into the message box and send. Choose Start a new chat to begin again.
Configuration details
- Unsaved edits are included. The panel notes that unsaved changes are saved before the call starts, so the test always uses what is on screen.
- Mute. The microphone button mutes you without ending the call.
- Call again. After a call ends, the same button starts a new one.
- A chat test uses the same instructions, tools and knowledge as a call but no audio. Each reply is charged to your credit like any other use of the model (the Free demo has no credit and is not charged). It is the fastest way to check wording and tools.
Testing
Say something your agent should know how to handle, then something it should not. Check that it stays within its instructions.
Expected result
You hear the opening line, the agent answers in its configured language, and when you end the call, a new row appears under History with direction Test, and under the agent's Logs tab.
Note. A browser test is a real call as far as cost is concerned: the model, hearing and voice are used and priced like any other call. The cost shows on the call in History.
Troubleshooting
- "Microphone blocked. Allow access and try again." Click the lock icon in the address bar, allow the microphone for the site, and press Call again.
- "Could not reach the server." Check your connection and try again.
- The agent never speaks. See Agent not responding.
- The call starts and stops at once. The agent's voice or hearing option may be unavailable for its language. Check the notes under the Voice and Hearing cards.
